At the Battle of the Little Big Horn (June 25th to 26, 1876) Native American warriors commanded by Chief Sitting Bull and Chief Crazy Horse of the Lakota and Northern Cheyenne Nations defeated a detachment of the U.S. 7th cavalry of Lt. Col. George A. Custer. The most famous battle between Native Americans and U.S. forces.
Geronimo, A Great Native American
Geronimo 1829-1909, a leader of the Apache and a fierce warrior, fought the U.S. expansion west into the Native American tribal lands for 25 years. Although outnumbered, Geronimo fought against both Mexican and U.S. troops and became famous for his daring exploits.
