There was a time when original homespun Navajo blankets, rugs and tapestries could only be bought from an Indian Trading Post.
Navajo textiles created in the traditional way made from sheering sheep through weaving are very labor intensive.
After completing the homespun tapestries weavers would bring them to the Trading Post in exchange for products needed.
While handspun wool is still used today, the trend is towards weavings using commercial wool.
Navajo tapestries, rugs and blankets known the world over for their high quality and beauty command considerable prices by their well known weavers.
Our NavajoCraft associates live on the reservation, speak the language, search the reservation for the weavings and crafts of local undiscovered artists and offer these artistic creations at affordable prices.
