One of the most sought after American Indian tapestries, blankets and rugs are by the Navajo Indians of the Southwest. Weaving these original American Indian tapestries is time consuming and a labor of love. The pride and artistic spirit of the weaver inhabits every tapestry, rug and blanket.
Tapestries created in the traditional way are made from Navajo Nation grazing Churro sheep, sheered wool, washed, air dried and dyed with colors from locally grown plants. Every step of the way is hand prepared in the American Indian cultural tradition.
While handspun wool is still used today, the trend is towards weavings using commercial wool.
